Touching People. Changing the World.

Preach the gospel of the Kingdom to everyone. The Vine Birmingham believes that advancing God’s Kingdom doesn’t come through new ways of doing church, but through the ancient way — faithful preaching and contextualizing the unchanging gospel within a changing culture. The Vine preaches faith in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, as the only way to eternal life.

Affirmation means to cement, secure, strengthen, and confirm the decision new believers make to follow Jesus and to give them the appropriate follow-up until they can grow and sustain themselves. People who are won for the Lord and are affirmed, built up, and edified represent future disciples for the Kingdom of God.

Discipleship was the method used by Jesus to transform and change the history of humanity. Discipleship was the highest principle in His ministry and life. People are transformed through discipleship, not only in their personal life but also they stop being simple believers and turn Into true Kingdom leaders.

You’re Invited To Experience A Different Kind Of Church

The Vine Birmingham

Are you looking for a place to grow? A place of freedom? A Kingdom teaching and reaching church? Well, look no further! You’re personally invited to experience The Vine Birmingham. At this exciting and spirit-filled service, you will be met with a warm welcome from people who want to help you experience the love of God.

We ‘re glad that you have stopped by to learn what we’re all about. We hope you see our passion for Jesus and the gospel of the Kingdom. He is the only reason that we do what we do — preaching, youth and children’s ministry, outreach, and even giving of our time, talent, and treasure. If you were to ask us to describe ourselves in one sentence, we would say, “We’re a kingdom-centered, city-focused church community.”

God’s Love, Power, and Glory create the DNA for us to live all of this life with kingdom purpose. As a kingdom-centered church, you will notice that we believe the gospel is so much more than a starting point for people. The gospel is all of life, and it shapes the very way in which we think and live life together with our family, friends, city, and the rest of the world. We want to view and live all of life through the gospel of the kingdom, which is freedom for all of us.

Our Ministries

Our church vision is to raise up a company of believers dedicated to changing their world for Christ. We believe church should be a place where barriers are broken through the love of Jesus. We see a place where the hungry, thirsty, broken, bound, and overlooked find solace. We see a place where social and cultural barriers are broken through worship and all people are doing life together through the love of Jesus. We welcome you to join us as a church on a journey to experience and help others experience freedom in Jesus. #TheVineBham
Empowering People. Inspiring Community Action. Transforming Lives.

M25 Alive Food Distribution

Please consider becoming a monthly M25 Alive Partner dedicated to praying, fasting, and giving $58.00 to this great cause. Each month, we distribute over 2,000 pounds of free food to our community.

Haiti Missions Ministry

We believe that Jesus died so that all might live! Therefore, we partner with local, national, and international ministries to help realize the mission of Jesus. In particular, we provide ongoing support for an elementary school and pastor in Haiti.

The Branch Student Ministry

Millennials have so much God-given creativity, talent, and drive inside of them. We have designed our student ministry to help this generation of teens and college-aged adults to discover, develop, and demonstrate their creativity, while reconnecting to God’s purpose for their life.

Women’s Ministry

Women get women. You are a mother. A sister. A wife. A businesswoman. A provider. A nurturer. A physician. A counselor. The list goes on and on with the many roles you fill. However, you are not what you do. You are loved by God and appreciated by us. This ministry is a safe place for you to be you. We want you to leave the roles and take time to reconnect with you. Again, women get women.

Houses of Peace

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again…(Galatians 5:1 NLT). Houses of Change are our small group system at #TheVineBham. We believe life should be done together as believers. We discuss interest, life issues, and the bible in these change house groups. You can be free in Christ from all hinderances and issues!

Volunteer–Team Freedom

There is a place for you to plug in here at #TheVineBham! We believe Ephesians 4 and 16 about ministry. “He (Jesus) makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love (NLT). You have a special work here in the body!

Men’s Ministry

Men often need a place of safety. A place where they are not competing but complementing and cooperating with other men. We want you to know this is that place. As Jesus said, “men are to always pray and not lose heart. Consider joining us for one of our men’s moments of prayer and encouragement.

Dwelling Place Prayer Team

Prayer is essential to any endeavor you undertake in life. Here at #TheVineBham, we believe prayer is the very next stone placed on the foundation of your identity in Christ. In fact, we don’t do anything here except we pray at least 21 Days first. We consistently pray out of relationship and not just necessity. Do you have a burden for prayer?

The Vine Worship

Our praise team seeks to help lead people into God encounters. We are always looking for high energetic team members. Praise team members live on: Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy! Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:1-2;4 NLT.

Marriage Ministry

Marriage on the Rock is our marriage ministry. We host an annual marriage retreat the second week of February. During this time, relationships are reinvigorated, reignited, and refreshed. Quarterly meetings are held as well to help strengthen your marriage.

What We’re Here For: Preaching the Resurrection

Preaching the resurrection is the thing we do every Sunday more or less, is it not? The entire Christian life is a direct result of the resurrection of Christ. All of our work as pastors focuses on teaching people to live in the resurrection reality. All grief management, discipleship encouragement, judgment warning and instruction in righteousness grows directly from the fact that Jesus Christ has inaugurated the New Age in the midst of the Old Age.

One of the entailments of the resurrection of Christ is that if it is true (and it is) then Reality is profoundly different than we have been lead to believe. For one thing, philosophical pluralism, the mantra, the dogma, the unquestioned canon of contemporary western intuition is simply not true. And thinking that it is true turns out to be a stupefying mental error, one from which grows an enormous epistemological labyrinth that keeps smart people walking in moral circles indefinitely. There simply are not multiple Ultimate Truths. Nor are there multiple paths to the same Ultimate Truth. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Nobody comes to God except through Me.” Ultimate Truth is a Person, not an abstract concept. He is God. This means that the universe is the Personal expression of the Personal Creator, the result of His Word (Heb.11:3).

Secondly, the resurrection of Christ means that evil or sin is a deeper reality than energy or physics in the universe. Our world preaches the dogma that the universe is essentially “Matter, Motion, Time, and Chance” as Francis Schaeffer famously said. But if Jesus Christ is resurrected, that means that his excruciating and inhumane death accomplished what He said it was supposed to accomplish—the defeat of sin and death. That means that sin is a deeper reality and a more powerful thing than inanimate energy in the same way that cancer is more central to a human than clothing.

If you’re going to live the Christian life you have to live it on Jesus’ terms. That means you have to think about everything like Jesus, like God in the flesh does. And you have to decide to do this. There’s no other way. You can’t serve God and the Enlightenment, God and World Religions, God and Naturalism, God and Pluralism, God and Nationalism, God and Spiritism, God and Sex, God and Power, God and Money. It’s The Lord Christ or nothing. This is not an arbitrary decree from an insecure and co-dependent Deity. It is a fact. The universe only runs one way because it is the product of only One God, the Triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. “But there are many ways of understanding reality, many truths” says the urbane and fashionably skeptical pluralist. “Who’s to say which is right?” The answer is: “How do you know that there are many truths?” The fact is that we only retreat to the “there are many truths” defense when there’s something we want to do that we’re pretty sure God would disapprove of, like wholesale sex, killing unborn people, or unbridled greed.

Duck-Rabbit_illusionThe famous Duck-Rabbit illustration pops up in all of these discussions. The picture looks like a duck, but then when you look at it with different “eyes” it looks like a rabbit. If you tell people ahead of time that you’re going to show them a picture of a duck, that’s what they “see.” And everybody knows that “seeing is believing,” which means “seeing is knowing” right? So then, you “know” it’s a duck. Yet, if somebody tells you that “many scholars believe” it’s a rabbit, you begin to wonder of you should change your mind about it being a duck. Endless “conversations” (the polite pluralistic euphemism for arguments) ensue.

But what if the Artist of the Duck/Rabbit picture steps on the scene and says, “It’s a duck.” Now we have a decision to make about reality. It is a decision of what to know, meaning what to believe is factually true about this issue. Our decision is not whether to believe/know that the picture is a duck or a rabbit, it is a decision to base our knowing on something other than our autonomous seeing and thinking. In other words, we face not simply a decision about ontology (whether the thing is a duck or a rabbit), but epistemology (how we know what the thing is). Do we “take the Artist’s word for it”? Or do we insist that our “seeing” is “knowing” and that therefore we are for all intents and purposes the ultimate interpreters and thus the creators in a certain sense of the picture? If we assume that we may decide whether it is a duck or a rabbit regardless of what the Artist says about it, then does that mean that the thing really is both a duck and a rabbit? Really? The Law of Non-Contradiction is non-existent? Do we really live that way in daily life? If we try to live this way, it is the beginning of insanity.

When Jesus of Nazareth rode into Jerusalem on that donkey colt at Passover in AD 30, he was presenting Himself as the Messiah, the center of reality, God in the flesh. The people wanted to believe He was their idea of Messiah, but He isn’t. He was purposely letting them think what they wanted to think, to interpret Him as they wished, according to their idea of Messiah. In a way, He was letting them think one thing about him when in fact there was a deeper and more profound reality. Only after the resurrection and only to a relative minority of the population (though a large group over a few weeks of time) did he reveal the Truth. But once that Truth was revealed it changed the view of everybody about everything.
Preaching the resurrection is preaching the gospel. It is the most stunning, astounding, life-transforming reality imaginable.

Just a Thought,

Pastor Rick

Breakthrough Beliefs: Peter

Life can weigh us down through disappointments and delays!
But never forget this, so write it down: while disappointments are inevitable, discouragement is a choice.
The Lord has a unique plan for your life—one that does not change according to unexpected circumstances.
FAITH CONFESSION. God has great blessings for me—more than I can imagine! Today! I let go of my disappointments and the fear of hoping and trusting again. God holds my future in His hands, and I will never lose by looking forward to what He has in store for me!
Luke 5:1-7 NASB
Luke 5:5 NASB
“Simon answered and said, Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets.”
5:4. Let down your nets.  Normally, the fish that were netted in shallow water at night would migrate during the daylight house to waters too deep to reach easily with nets, which is why Peter fished at night. Peter, no doubt, thought Jesus’ directive made no sense, but he obeyed anyway, and was rewarded for obedience (v.6-7).

The word of God is the solution to man’s chronic problem. From sin to cynicism, the word of God speaks today as clearly as He spoke: Let there be… God’s word is a lamp to your feet and a light to all paths you take in life. Please enjoy this time listening to the word but be sure to do all that you hear. I’m sure you will be blessed. “For I know the thoughts that I have towards you, thoughts of good and not of evil. To give you a hope and an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

God gives all of us the great privilege of partnering with Him in what He wants to do in the world. The Vine Church of Birmingham is committed to reaching those who are considered by many to be far from God, partnering to release unprecedented levels of compassion into a hurting world, and maturing us into increasingly faithful followers of Christ. We do this with a full commitment to bring the message of freedom and love that comes through a life with Jesus Christ. The Vine Birmingham allocates many resources to sustain domestic and foreign mission work.
“You are rich in everything—in faith, in speaking, in knowledge, in truly wanting to help, and in the love you learned from us. In the same way, be strong also in the grace of giving”
